Bird enthusiasts of all ages will be thrilled by the majestic osprey soaring overhead, elegant herons wading near the shoreline, graceful egrets among the marsh grasses, and charming ibis with their distinctive curved bills.

Join us for a delightful journey along the sparkling waters of the Crystal Coast! Weather permitting, our adventure begins as we sail under the beautiful new Beaufort bridge toward Morehead City. Keep those cameras ready—families often spot playful dolphins and majestic osprey along the way!

Our journey takes us to the impressive Morehead City Port, one of the deepest harbors on the East Coast. Children and adults alike will be amazed by the fascinating tugboats and magnificent ships from around the world. We’ll glide along the vibrant Morehead City waterfront to take in all the wonderful sights before heading back to Beaufort.

On our return trip, we’ll pass exciting landmarks including the U.S. Coast Guard Station, historic Fort Macon, and the scenic Beaufort Inlet. From the area known as the Turning Basin, we’ll cruise by Radio Island (home to the area’s first radio station established in 1940) and Pivers Island, where important marine research happens at the North Carolina Coastal Reserve, National Estuarine Research Reserve, NOAA Lab, and Duke University’s Marine Laboratory.

As we enter Taylor’s Creek and approach the charming Beaufort Waterfront, you’ll see the western portion of the Rachel Carson Nature Preserve. Beaufort is a favorite stop for many boaters traveling the Intracoastal Waterway, and we’ll admire the impressive vessels along our route.

In Taylor’s Creek, we’ll be surrounded by beauty—the picturesque downtown Beaufort on one side and the magnificent Rachel Carson Coastal Estuarine Reserve on the other! This 2,315-acre natural treasure includes Carrot Island, Town Marsh, Bird Shoal, Middle Marshes, and Horse Island. Your family will love spotting the wild ponies that have made these islands their home since the 1940s and discovering some of the 200+ bird species that inhabit this special place.

Finally, we’ll return to our dock, passing by colorfully painted local shrimp boats that delight visitors of all ages. Don’t forget your cameras on the boat cruise to capture these wonderful memories!
